PDA stands for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. CPC members have helped with Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi, Hurricane Ike in Texas, and the flood in Alabama.
From Mel Cook
The Community Presbyterian Mission Fund Inc. was started in 2007. "I had a meeting with my CPA in Waterloo who asked me if our church was very involved in missions. I told him we were. He said there was a man in his church that wanted to give $40,000 to 10 different churches for missions. I talked to the Elders of our church and I was told to look into it. We formed a corporation of seven board members: Mel Cook, President, Larry Moore, VP, Cindy Converse, Secretary, & Harold Peck, Treasurer. Other board members are: Sandy Bacon, Ed Engelhardt, and Dave Schutte."
$41,000 was transferred into an account for the corporation. Every year we figure out if we have made a profit. If so, we give a percentage to missions. This can not be given to a local organization.
Our Board of Directors meet every 3-4 months. All church members are welcome to attend.
